Myopia Control Program Information

At Good Life Eyecare we believe your child’s eyesight is PRECIOUS! We want to help you make the best decisions about your child’s eyes so they can keep their sight for life.

Understanding Myopia Control can be a lot to take in at one time. Here is a short overview along with additional resources to help you navigate making the best decision for your child.

What is Myopia? Myopia = Nearsightedness Whether or not your child complains of not being able to see objects at a distance, such as the board at the front of their classroom, they might have a condition called myopia. It’s more commonly known, though, as nearsightedness. Increasing myopia causes eyes to elongate. This elongation can cause the tissue on the inside of the eye to stretch, potentially leading to life long vision problems. Also, the higher the prescription the fewer options your child may have for certain types of contact lenses and quality Lasik surgery.

Myopia Control: OrthoK | MiSight Contacts Lenses | Atropine Eye Drops

Slow down the progression of myopia (nearsightedness). Recent research shows that the traditional ways of prescribing and re-prescribing new glasses when changes occur is outdated and ineffective. We prescribe brand new treatment options to help slow down your child’s nearsightedness so that they have the best opportunities for healthy eyes and clear vision as adults.
